Don't be Afraid...

One of my biggest stumbling blocks in being successful on the Internet was the fear of being seen. There are all kinds of horror stories out there of bad things happening to others because the wrong person found them on the Internet, so I always tried to keep as low of a profile as I could when surfing the web. So now I am realizing, if I want to make money at home, I need to put myself out there front and center for all to see. Did Sam Walton get rich by hiding himself from the world? No, Sam Walton made his money from excellent management skills and by marketing his name and his stores. After starting with a Ben Franklin franchise in Rogers, Arkansas in 1940, Sam Walton became so successful that he opened his first Walmart in 1962. That venture was so successful that soon Walmarts were popping up all over America and by the 1980's their sales was well over a billion dollars and over 300 stores across America. Today the Walmart name continues to grow with stores in countries around the world. Sam Walton believed that "individuals don't win, teams do" Do you think Sam Walton could have created an empire so large that it continues on after his death in 1992 if he had been afraid of being seen?
So we need to learn to not be afraid, and put ourselves out there front and center so we can be seen.
eHow is not only a fun writing place where we can practice and hone our writing skills, it also is a good social network, with so many good people contributing their skills and knowledge.  Perhaps we need to think of ourselves as a team and not as individuals, and then maybe we can all benefit and be successful on eHow and in our other writing ventures.
